Recognizing the Contribution of Business to Education, Facebook and Lutticken’s will receive the Chamber’s 2014 Golden Apple Awards for their commitment to local education. The Golden Apples will be awarded at the Chamber’s 117th Annual Awards and Recognition Dinner on Friday, February 6, 2015 at Sofitel San Francisco Bay.
The Golden Apple recognizes businesses that strive to make a difference in city schools. Nominated by Trustee Dennis McBride, Vice President of the Redwood City School District Board, Facebook is being recognized for “the enormous impact they have made on Redwood City Schools with their willingness to partner, their generosity and for becoming as involved as the have.”
Also receiving a Golden Apple is Lutticken’s whose nomination by Steve Penna, Publisher of The Spectrum Magazine, recognizes them for “being one of those silent givers who does amazing things for our schools and youth in the community.” Lutticken’s, with restaurants in Menlo Park, Redwood City and at Stanford, donates their time, money and delicious food to multiple schools and events that support local education.
The Education Committee first formed the Chamber’s Golden Apple Award 19 years ago. The award recognizes the impact that business makes on the educational community through their generosity and commitment to the schools.
Golden Apple Award Recipients Facebook and Lutticken’s each exemplify that commitment to education and what great partnerships with the business community can accomplish.
