2018 Cornerstone Awarded to San Mateo County Transit District

Press Release:  Redwood City– San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce honors San Mateo County Transit District with the Chamber’s 2018 Cornerstone Award

The Executive Committee for the Redwood City – San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is honored to name the San Mateo County Transit District as the 2018 Cornerstone Award recipient. The San Mateo County Transit District will be celebrated and honored at The Chamber’s 121st Annual Awards Dinner to be held on Friday evening, February 1, 2019 at Pullman SF Bay Hotel.

The Cornerstone Award was created in 2016 to honor individuals and/or organizations for their ability in making a meaningful and lasting impact in their communities, devoting time, talent and resources to community development and philanthropic initiatives. They can be economic drivers — providing jobs and fueling growth; they are always exemplary stewards. Honorees include individuals or companies of all sizes and industry segments that have made a commitment to strengthening the foundation of the communities they call home.

The San Mateo County Transit District is the administrative body for the principal public transit and transportation programs in San Mateo County; SamTrans bus service, including Redi-Wheels paratransit service, Caltrain commuter rail and the San Mateo County Transportation Authority. Caltrain and the TA have contracted with the District to serve as their managing agency, under the direction of their appointed boards.

“The elected leadership, executive staff, and agency personnel at the San Mateo County Transit District are working tirelessly every day to improve every aspect of mobility in San Mateo County.  Their work is essential to businesses of all sizes in Redwood City and San Mateo County in order to move people and goods.  Their work is critical to the strength of our local economy and the quality of life for every resident.” -Josh Pierry, Chairman of the Board, Redwood City-San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce
